It was Magnus Midtbø, a Norwegian climber known on YouTube for his extreme physical challenges.
One episode stuck with us: a backpack loaded full of weight on a treadmill, seven kilometers per hour… while the incline keeps increasing by +3 degrees. Literally until you collapse. Simple in concept, but brutally tough in execution.

In the gym, with a backpack filled with weight plates, we got to work. It didn’t look great — more like you were headed to a festival — but it worked.
Or rather: it only half worked. The weight shifted in all directions, and it felt like this wasn’t the right way at all. Afterwards, the thought was: there’s potential here, but this needs to be done much smarter.

Backpacks from the US were available online, but they cost five to six hundred euros to import. Unaffordable and totally impractical. So, we started hacking together different bags, dumbbells, and tape.

The WALCK backpack is specially developed to carry weight steadily and close to your body. Wide shoulder straps provide comfort. A sturdy hip belt takes on much of the weight. The ergonomic back panel is reinforced and supports your back. This way, you can train safely and effectively without your bag or your body giving out.
